The new Administration has made clear through a series of executive orders and memos that it is looking to immediately and substantially upend longstanding investments to and through hospitals, universities, and most aggressively, nonprofit organizations.
With a little-noticed memo on the evening of Friday, February 7th, the White House specifically called for a “review of all funding that [federal] agencies provide” to nonprofits. This memo, coupled with a now-rescinded memo from the Office of Management and Budget, has put all health and human services on notice that their federal revenue streams are in jeopardy–if not now, in the foreseeable future.
Though federal injunctions have largely but not entirely blocked the Administration from immediately freezing federal grants to nonprofits, we asked our members between January 28th and February 11th to share how much federal money they receive–both that might be targeted by the now-rescinded memo that is still guiding policy for the Administration, and overall to get a full sense of the federal investment through nonprofits in our membership.

We will work diligently with our members, and leaders across government to defend these investments which are critical in meeting the enormous needs of our community.
Please stay tuned to this website as we continue tracking the impact of the new Administration on nonprofits and the people they serve.
