$3.3 million in appropriations for HSC members overcome key hurdle

With thanks to Representative Joyce Beatty’s leadership, eight HSC member agencies are set to receive $3.3 million in funds through Congress’ appropriations process.

Those member agencies and their projects are as follows:

Project Sponsor: Equitas Health

Project Name: Mobile Outreach Vehicle (MOVe)

Description: Funds will be used to purchase a Mobile Outreach Vehicle (MOVe) to meet the needs of those who often do not or cannot seek out health services in an office setting, including telehealth visits, STI/HIV treatment and prevention, vaccine distribution and administration (including COVID-19 vaccinations), and linkage to care.

Project Name: Neighborhood Health Center

Description: Funding will be used to support the establishment of a new health center to provide health care services to low-income, underserved, and uninsured patients.

Project Name: Safe Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence

Description: Funds will allow for the only domestic violence shelter in Franklin County to operate a new wing, adding 24 more beds and living space.

Project Name: Central Ohio Youth Homelessness Support for Victims of Crime

Description: This collaboration with Kaleidoscope Youth Center and Star House will provide services to young people experiencing homelessness:  safe respite from the streets, immediate access to basic needs, and connections to stabilizing resources, such as housing, physical and mental health care, employment and supportive relationships.

Project Sponsor: Columbus Urban League

Project Name: Columbus Urban League Entrepreneur Center

Description: Funds will be used for the redevelopment and alignment of office space to provide critical business support services and improve access to capital for Black and minority-owned companies in Central Ohio.

Requested Amount: $450,000

Project Sponsor: YWCA Columbus

Address: 65 South Fourth St, Columbus, OH  43215

Project Name: YWCA Family Center

Description: Funds will be used for safety renovations and improvements to amenities at the emergency homeless shelter, which serves approximately 500 families annually.
