Central Ohio’s vast range of nonprofits care for children, families, animals, the environment, and just about everything in between. Our region’s nonprofit organizations – both large and small – are doing work that’s more important than ever, yet some are facing an uncertain future amid potential funding cuts and anxiety among the communities they serve.

The 2025 Annual State of Nonprofits hosted by Columbus Metropolitan Club provided a forum for an in-depth conversation with nonprofit leaders working to strengthen and build their organizations, to protect essential missions and services, and navigate through a shifting funding landscape. The event featured HSC members, Joe Gottron, President & CEO, Gladden Community House and Denise Robinson, President and CEO, Alvis; as well as Tom Schmid, President & CEO, The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium; and Julie Fletcher, Director of Community Impact, Crane Group. The forum was moderated by Michael Corey, Executive Director of Human Service Chamber of Central Ohio.
