Position: Operations and Instructional Associate

The network includes two high-performing middle schools, a high-performing elementary school, and launched a second elementary school in the fall of 2017. We are seeking an Operations and Instructional Associate to join our network at Columbus Collegiate Academy-Main St.

Position Description
The Operations and Instructional Associate provides a unique opportunity for talented individuals to explore the field of operations and instruction. The associate will have an opportunity to observe best practices in classroom instruction, special education, and operations from experienced teachers and school leaders at a leading network of charter schools. The associate will observe and learn from experienced educators, co-teach with teacher leaders, and support staff with tutoring, grading, coverage, and individual and small group student instruction. Depending on school needs, associates may teach their own class of students, allowing for direct teaching experience within a more limited teaching load. Associates will also assist with a variety of work inside and outside of the classroom including completing clerical tasks, supporting the front office, organizing student events, and developing mentoring relationships with students. Through full participation in summer and school-year professional development, as well as regular meetings with school and teacher leaders, associates will have many opportunities to gain the experience and support necessary to develop their skills. By the end of the year, associates will be strong candidates for instructional and/or operational positions within the network.
Major Performance Responsibilities and Duties:
Support the Intervention Specialists in teaching classes for special education students. Support the Intervention Specialists in maintaining a safe learning environment. Assist in collecting and analyzing data to inform classes and interventions for students. Assist with various special education administrative tasks such as the creation of a monthly coverage schedule for assessment accommodations. Provide coverage for small group testing accommodations on testing days. Support students by providing tutoring, intervention and homework assistance. Complete operations projects as assigned by the Operations Manager and/or School Director, including front office coverage, filing and record-keeping, responding to student and family requests, tracking inventory, and organizing and maintaining spaces around the facility. Provide substitute teaching coverage for teachers within the school as needed. Other duties as assigned by the School Director. As appropriate, perform duties expected of classroom teachers, including but not limited to: Implement curricula and activities to meet academic standards. Design and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards. Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices. Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions, events, and trips. Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior. Serve as an advisor to a group of students. Help co-lead advisory/homeroom in the morning and afternoon. Supervise students during transitions, breaks, breakfast, lunch, recess, and afterschool. Participate in summer and school-year professional development during the employment term.

Terms of Employment
