Job Title: Program Coordinator
Supervised By: Executive Director
Supervises: N/A
Classification: Part-time; 25 – 28 hours per week
THE ORGANIZATION:
The Starfish Alliance, Inc. is a nonprofit organization with a mission to prepare resilient, successful youth who thrive and make positive contributions where they live, learn, and work. Our services include 1) school-based and virtual programming to support academic success and social-emotional development, 2) training and development for other community-based organizations around youth engagement, adolescent development, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and trauma as developmental disruptors, and program continuous improvement, and 3) technical assistance to other community-based organizations to support program design and development of pilot or scaling programs.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Program Coordinator is primarily responsible for coordinating facets of the teen Result Oriented Coaching (R.O.C.) program for young people which includes: 1) managing volunteer coaches; 2) recruitment and engaging youth for programming 3) Scheduling and managing workshop facilitators with youth and adults virtually and in school and community settings; 4) Developing, supporting and overseeing ongoing youth leadership and youth-driven initiatives, and 5) Meeting the program’s contractual obligations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Outreach, Direct Service and Community Engagement
● Coordinate and plan R.O.C. for young people (9th-12th grades)
● Co-facilitate activities with volunteer coaches as needed.
● Assist with developing and implementing programming.
● Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with area youth organizations and schools.
● Maintain student attendance
Volunteer Engagement & Management
● Act as Task Supervisor for volunteers
● Maintain schedules and attendance records for volunteers
● Assist in the evaluation of all volunteer coaches
Other (5% of position)
● Submit all required reporting
● Participate in a variety of coalitions and committees as needed, particularly in the communities where team’s programming is clustered.
● Participate in agency events as needed.
● Provide services as determined by the Board of Directors’ policies.
● Perform and complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
● Attend and actively participate in departmental and staff meetings.
● Protect the organizational value by keeping information confidential.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
● A bachelor’s degree in Social, Behavioral Sciences or Education required; Master’s preferred

Experience
● 2+ years of supervisory experience required.
● Experience working as a prevention educator is preferred.
● Previous experience in youth development and/or youth leadership preferred.
Skills
● Skills related to: providing clear and consistent feedback that is aligned with the program’s core messaging; delegating tasks and staying organized with the team’s individual and joint efforts; solving problems related to the program; and supporting individuals on the team through conflict resolution
● PC literate with experience in, publication design,
● Tech savvy, proficient in all MS Office products, specifically Excel, Word and Outlook is required.
● Ability to work with diversity and multi-disciplinary teams
● Excellent time-management and organizational skills
● Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
● Detail-oriented and efficient
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
● This position requires frequent travel around the city to different schools and communities: having access to consistent and reliable transportation is required; having access to a car is required.
● Evening and weekend work occasionally may be required.
