In Long-Awaited Move, CDC Eases Guidance on Cleaning Facilities

Since the start of the pandemic, nonprofits and other business owners have implemented exhaustive cleaning and disinfecting practices to minimize the spread of Covid-19.

But though we had significant data last year that Covid was airborne and was not often spreading through surfaces, the CDC has just now revised its guidance easing recommendations on how often to clean and disinfect facilities.

The key message: When no people with confirmed or suspected COVID are known to have been in a space, cleaning once a day is sufficient.

We hope this will save nonprofits and others significant time and cost, while focusing efforts on ensuring well-ventilated spaces, proper hand hygiene, and mask-wearing to minimize Covid’s spread.
